“The Years Of Decay” was released in October of ’89 and it remains the finest moment in Overkill’s 18 albums deep discography.  It is, arguably, one of the finest metal albums of all time.  After “Feel The Fire”, “Taking Over” and “Under The Influence”, “The Years Of Decay” seemed like the most focused and determined of their albums, maintaining that influential East Coast thrash on tracks like “Elimination” but also experimenting (to success) with other metal vibes.  Anyone who thinks they know Overkill and has yet to indulge in “Playing With Spiders/Skullkrusher” knows nothing of what this band was capable of in the late 80’s.

Sid Falck took over drum duties from Rat Skates in 1987 and was the drummer for this seminal album.  Sid left the group in 1992 during their “HorrorScope” tour.  I’m not going to pretend that I know why Sid left or how Bobby “Blitz” views the situation.  I didn’t even ask Sid about it in the interview.  All I know is that Sid Falck was a huge part of a band I’ve loved for 27 years and is currently working on a project called “Infectus 13”.  Their first single, “Enemy At The Gate” is groovy, catchy metal.  It’s just solid metal.  It’s not thrash, it’s nothing like Battlezone, either.  This one feels like it’s Sid’s.  Enough, if you don’t know Sid or Overkill or Battlezone I really have no idea why you’re here or how you’ve made it this far.  For the rest, here’s Sid Falck.
